removing wallpaper paste

Is there a way to determine if all of the paste has gone?

I believe I have done a good job and used a steamer and scraper however I dont want to go to the bother of painting if I am missing something obvious?

Some areas appear shiny, yet smooth and I know I went over that area.

You could always give the wall a coat of Zinsser Gardz, which will seal it and provide a good base for any paint.

I'd sand the surface, especially the shiny bits.
