Perhaps should have asked this with my other post about stripping the doors but can anyone point me in the direction of a good quality and effective primer and top coat paint to use on completely stripped aluminium garage doors.

Are there specific primers and top coat paints to be used for these doors.

Finished they will be white - want to do it properly as I don't want to do it again !!!

Ideally you will need a Chromate primer, or a Zinc Phosphate primer, this is used specifically for the Aluminium doors, believe it or not, they do corrode !! A good 10 hrs before putting on an undercoat and maybe a second undercoat, then you top coats. Sanding down gently between and tack cloths to get dust off.

Thanks for the response - - that's the primer sorted - is there a specialist type of undercoat and topcoat I should use for these metal doors - or is it just go down to Homebase or B&Q for an exterior undercoat and topcoat and use a typical brand like Dulux ?
