Hi. I am replacing an old existing Single Pole, single gang plug socket, with an MK 13A 1-Gang DP Switched Plug Socket. I hadn't realised it was a double pole until I got home.

Does it make a difference which of the two earth terminals I connect the earth wire to? Or do I have to go back and buy a single pole socket?

Sorry for the basic question, but I do appreciate your help. Thanks.

Makes no difference, they are connected together.

EDIT

PS It's a SOCKET. That's a plate with holes in it.
The thing with the pins that you put into it is called a PLUG.

There is no such animal as a plugsocket.

;)

DP refers to the switch on the socket. The fact your socket has two earth terminals is nothing to do with DP or SP switching.

If you have a certain kind of circuit wired in a certain way, you should put one earth in one terminal and the other in the other.

But assuming you don't, just put all the earth conductors in one or the other, whichever is most convenient.
