Hello in my house I have a single built in electric oven which is made from DIPLOMAT. It has given up the ghost and I pulled it out today and saw that it was connected to a main socket with a normal mains plug. Do new single ovens allow for the same way of connection. Are there only some? Or do all of them require a special double pole socket and if so what is typically the rating and wire size to the socket. I will get an electrician in if this needs to be done. If I can get one which can be plugged into a normal socket then that would be better for now.

Cheers

But beware that there are quite a lot on the market which can't be plugged in, because they are designed for the rest of Europe where 16A plugs & sockets are used.

Anything over 3120W @ 240V or 2990W @ 230V will be too big.
