Live Fault

Evening All,

We've been working on a property, and I know I'm tired, but am I missing something?!

Can not get a fan to work, wired this 3 times now, and from scratch too!

Ended the day with 1 T&E Feed going to a DP Fan ISO Switch, via a 1G switch (live) to the fan. With nothing on any end, and only connecting the live feed - and all other wires, live, neutral, and switched loose and only the earth connected together and sleeved, why the hell am I getting getting live reads off the wires!

Testing other cables, ect no problems, but yet these wires - we can not get it to go! for the life of me can not figure out why I'm getting this phantom live throughout the cables!

I've only been left with doggy cable - anyone else?

what are you using to test with?
what dead results did you get?
when doing continuity, polarity and insulation resistance?

Could you please draw a diagram of what you have, how connected and where you measured voltages? The description is hard to follow.

Whatever he did, I hope he does not actually do this for a living and sells his services as an electrician, as it sounds the lad don't have a scooby!
