Hi, my shower is not heating up at all, water running ok but no matter what setting it is on still no hot water. any ideas please? Mike

Could be the thermal cutout then, these are meant to be self resetting. It depends how much you want to spend on this as a whole new shower only costs between £67 and £80 from argos.
Calling someone out to fix the old one will probably be a big chunk of this.
 
By testing it for a closed circuit with a multimeter (shower electrically isolated and multimeter set to ohms range). Should see approx 0Ω across the contacts of the thermal cutout.
 
I have just put shower on and turned it down to lowest temp, water went very hot and shower made like a boiling noise as if you had put a kettle on then went cold again. Turned it back to max temp and still cold.
