Wiring a ceiling light to a plug for socket use! Help!

Hi there. Most of you are probably thinking why the hell would you want to do that?! Well it's for an aquarium light is it possible to buy a light pendant and wire it to a plug to stick in a wall socket? The pendant itself will be no more than 100w max but probs 60w max and will be using an e27 led bulb. I have several bulbs in mind either 15,21 or 27w. Please advise as it will greatly speed up my custom aquarium project. Also will this system be dimmable? Many thanks

It would be electrically safe as long as you put a 3 amp. fuse in the plug.

However, it would be unsuitable for an aquarium.
You should get a proper aquarium light which would be extra-low voltage (12V) and safe.

You can't really use a pendent over a tank, there's no IP rating and the condensation would be a problem...

Even at 12" from the water line? Surely there's someway of making it safer? People use shop lights for their aquariums?! Even 250w metal halides! Some of which are not aquarium made. How about a glass condensation tray between the water and the light? There is a website that sells aquarium e27 bulbs and suggests using an ikea foto pendant without warning about safety!

People sell steroids but it doesn't mean it's safe or legal.
