We've had free extra insulation put into the loft - free as part of a government scheme

This has raised the insulation above the height of the beams

I want to put down some flooring
I don't need proper flooring
All I want to have is some extra space for storage, nothing else

The beams that are there seem to be thin, say 3 inches across - whatever it is, I'm sure it's just the standard size (for thin beams)

Can I just buy the same size beams and put them down on top of the existing beams?
Would this maybe unstable??

Better idea: instead of putting down a whole length of beam, just cut small chunks, say 15cm long every 1m say and then just put down flooring

Good idea? Bad idea?

Any help would be great

Thanks

thanks for that
i went up there and had another look
i have ceiling lights up there
so covering over this isn't a good idea
i've decided to shelve that idea for now
