Square frame on top of floor joists removal?

I've got a big square in the middle of my loft and the struts go off it.
how do i remove?

most likely it is there to stop your roof falling down, so don't

post a pic.
 
The old tank sat on it, but it's larger with all the diagonal struts going in to it.

I need the square out the way to fit the new floor joists.

I can fit temporary upright struts under the purlins but they would be in the way of the new ashlar walls.

I'm thinking of leaving the existing diagonal struts because there positioned over the old floor joists but also adding new temporary struts behind them screwed into the rafters and the old floor joists
Then cut areas out of the square frame where the new floor joists are going then build the new ashlar walls off of the new floor joists and cut the remains out.

what do you think?
