Leaking Shed Roof

S

Shutpa

In the past day or two, our shed roof has developed a leak with the result that water is dripping very close to an electric socket. Although I cant see a rip anywhere on the roofing felt, clearly the water is getting in and must be stopped. Is there any kind of waterproofing paint/varnish available for roofing felt?

As catlad says your better off just adding a new layer of felt. A roll plus some clouts should only be 25 quid or similar

felt last around 4 or 5 years for shed felt or 10 to 25 for several torch on layers

It's about 4 years old at the moment. The last one lasted 12, are there different qualities of roofing felt?

yes light shed felt and roofing felt then theres extra layers off different sort
bottom layer nails on next layer torches on with the protective top layer

Some additional info,
Isoflex liquid rubber would work if you could find the area to be repaired, you can get it in b+q.
Another posibility during a re-roof would be to nail an underfelt to the roof, then get a heavy grade felt, not the cheap "shed felt" though, use a cold applied bitumen adhesive to glue the topsheet onto the underfelt, clout nailing along the seams.

Thanks HH1, but I finished recovering the shed an hour before you posted your reply.
