I need to replace the supports for my vines and would like to take cuttings from an ash tree. The tree has been pollarded and has produced dozens of shoots, most of which will be up to the task. However ash does not have a good reputation for durabililty when in contact with the soil. I also need to use it right away.

Does anyone know of a suitable preservative that can be applied to the green ash, that will allow it to be placed about a foot in the ground straight away? It will need to stay in the ground at least 10 years.

Thanks

Rob
