Hi all,

Hope someone can help me fix my garage door opening mechanism. Basically, my old cable that I used to yank to open the garage door snapped. I replaced that with a speaker cable and that hasn't worked out too well the plastic shielding has come away exposing the copper wire which in turn has made it loose so you cant open the garage door when locked from the outside. (Hope im making sense ) I have replaced the speaker cable since with same type but dont know how long it will last, hopefully by then some one can point me in the direction where I can buy the correct cable. Plus is it possible to change the whole thing because the white circle thing you can see has a screw inside to tighten the cable but that screw is sort of rusty and is giving away I doubt how many more turns it could do before it breaks.

I have attached pics to make it more understandable.

Thanks in advance.

As I recall from my motor biking days the inner cable on brakes and clutch is called Bowden cable, A search shows up several suppliers might well be cheaper than buying branded from the door maker.

thanks honda, from the ebay pic it seems like thats what I need its the whole locking system, Just one concern is from my Pic if you notice the white circular thing which tightens the cable to the spindle is that also included? because my one as mentioned has a rusty screw so really need to replace that as well as cable.
But this seems perfect plus its not to expensive so will just get it and see how much it helps else I will be back here ;)

There are so many different types of doors that you can choose from. Personally I like the ascetics of a wooden door.
