Hi was just wondering I have an asus m4a 88 tdv evo mb with it's core unlocking facility, a mate has a phenom11x3 555 processor and I wondered if I pop it in my mb could I unlock the 4th core for him and would it remain unlocked when taken out and put on his mb.

As far as I know the board is what enables the 4th core by voltage control so I would guess that placed into another board it would be a 3 core only.
Let me know if you have found anything else! |

Thats correct its a combination of the board and processor which enables you to use the 4th core. Note not all Phenoms have the option to unlock 4 cores, Ive previously bought one which couldnt.
Good luck! |
