Hi,

Plastered the bathroom walls last weekend and on wall #2 i have been left with a minor ripple effect resembling something like the English channel.

Have fill, smoothed and painted once more but as you can see it is still full of faults.

What is the best way to remedy this item? Or is it really a case of replastering?

Many Thanks

Your picture doesn't really help a lot as the resolution is too low to see the ripples (apart from something that's in the top left hand corner which looks like a groove).

What's the end plan for the wall? Is the plaster going to be on show or will it be tiled over?

If the wall is not going to be covered over, you probably find it quicker to re-skim it.

I'm assuming you plastered it yourself. Did you get the plaster on in a consistant thickness to start with, or did you have any other problems during the original skim?

Thanks for your response.

Unfortunately this wall is due to be painted hence the constant misiion for something moderately flat.

As feared it may just be best to re-skim at this rate.

Thank You

Re plastering would be best but another option is to fill/plaster the uneven areas with FastSet (the stuff you fill gyproc joints with) and sand down to even. Fast Set is soft and sands easily/quicky down to a feather edge using reduction paper. It's dusty tho, and it's not as tough as plaster so perhaps not the way to go if you wall is going to take a beating.

Hope this helps :)
