Hi all

I have a stone built house, part of which has been rendered on the outside without the use of lime (i.e. sand and cement only). Rather than tear the lot off, is it possible to render the inside with lime/sand/cement and then limewash, and will it be OK. Or is there another solution?

Many thanks

Steve

If it's a period property try searching for websites (e.g seach for "period property forum") that have a concern for older properties. On here they will only tell you to use modern stuff which is not necessarily what you want to do with an older house.

What are you trying to achieve? Lime, cement and sand is just plain old render.

Possel, the outside is already rendered with sand and cement.

Are you suggesting that he takes this off first?

Otherwise what would be the point of having a lime render on the inside in terms of 'breathing' ?
