Skim bead over wooden dawl bead

Hi I am skimming my bedroom and want nice square edges but can I simply tack the metal skim bead over the old wooden dawl bead, or will it get a hairline crack down it?

Put scrim tape over the wood before fixing the bead will be fine.

That's what i do too. I put a piece of scrim tape down either side of the wooden bead to tape the crack/joint. I then put on the skim bead. I then put on another piece of scrim tape onto the bead, half onto the bead, half onto the wall if you get my drift. In other words, i've taped it twice,,, personal preference. I've also done it using 3" hessian scrim round the wooden bead first, then the bead, then tapes half on the bead/wall as i said earlier.
