Hi there,

In the last few days we've been having some issues with our Baxi 80e. That being that the flame is going out (and its flashing the 30C light)

The letting agents plumber came out who showed me how to reset the boiler. We did this yesterday and it ran all day no problem. However this morning the flame failure light was flashing once again. So it worked ok for about 24hrs.

He suggested that the Flame Failure is a problem with the supply rather than any form of issue with the boiler. But we've never had any issues like that in the past. We've put in a call and he's coming out again next week but as i can just reset the boiler to get it working again he's in no hurry.

Thanks very much!

Does anything think what he said is correct? Or is it more likely that the boiler has a fault? As i'd like to be more knowledgeable when he next comes.

There may be a fault with the electrodes /sensors needing adjusting but when the pcb on these go that is usually the fault light and resetting becomes more reg till it wont reset.

Problem with supply is very remote.
Meter governors do stick but this usually shows first thing in morning after there being no demand overnight

None of us have seen your boiler!

But anything like this is virtually always caused by a fault on the boiler.

Do you have a copy of a Gas Safety Certificate? Thats required by law every year!

Gas safety certificate is with the agents afaik.

Have had to reset it twice this morning (it died again about 10 minutes after first reset but now its chugging along fine) Plumber is going to try to get back over here today but the snow has just started so we may have to wait. I'll ask him about the PCB as that seems to be quite a common theme :) Will post back here once i have more news.

ps. What a terrible time for this to happen we've hardly needed the heating on apart from these last few days this winter!
