Hi..

I am currently setting about replacing our broken electric shower. Currently there appears to be a flexible copper pipe coming out of the wall about 2 inches below the shower that turns into the shower unit... Its unsightly and has driven us bonkers since we moved in..

Is this an appropriate part that should be used in shower plumbing or am I as well to take a couple of tiles off and replace it with normal copper piping that can come out of the wall at a right angle and straight into the new shower..?

replace with copper and use a compression fitting to connect the copper pipe to the shower inlet, which is usually plastic.most likely to be an elbow fitting for the connection
