HI elderly friend has a Protherm 80e in her flat.... it was serviced about 2 months ago .
Visited her today and her central heating was switched off and her boiler ignited and the water came on very hot when she opens the tap .
But what seemed strange to me was that the boiler switches on itself every 40 mins or so just for a few mins as if it is keeping the water at a set constant temperature..... i wouldnt expect the boiler to ignite unless a tap was turned on ??? Is this a norm for this model boiler and if so can the temp be set lower , or is it a fault .
Your comments would be appreciated. :?:

I can't find any reference to pre heat in the manual. It has in built frost protection, can't see it being cold enough for that, unless faulty.

I'll leave it for someone that may know this boiler better

Just wish to add...... the boiler does not have a room thermostat fitted.

Anyone else around to comment would be appreciated

Regards
