Hi friends (boy do we need a friend!)

We have a Stanley Coooker (Aga type) which houses the central heating and water heating controls. Its 6 years old. Today - Christmas Day - it decided to stop providing hot water to our taps (bath, shower wash basins etc).

We have'nt got a clue what it is?

We have a tank in the upstairs bathroom which has thermostat valves/controls there is a re-set button (which we have pressed) but no change -

Can anybody shed some light as to a quick fix to get hot water flowing again - very much appreciated

Our tel no is 01978 754198 we live near Wrexham

Mant thanks guys

Have you an immersion heater in the top of your cylinder. First thing to do is turn that on.

Is it still providing heat to the radiators or do you use a Seperate boiler for that?

If so likely to be cylinder stat or valve.

Thank you Lee for picking this up - We have a 6 year old central heating system with new tank in bathroom upstairs, we believe that is immersion heater too - as on Boxing day morning we had hot water!!! but the Stanley Aga is not heating the water - as when we go to control panel on left hand door in Stanley oben, when we press water the red comes on but there is no firing up - like we normally get, I might add if we turn Central Heating button to on - red light comes on and the boiler immediately fires up.

There is an old economy 7 control panel in kitchen which we believe heates immersion - this was on so that may have kept water hot overnight on Xmas night. So problem is - something isnt kicking in when we use Stanley oven control panel for water...?

I suspect that you will need an engineer to sort out your problem.

That becomes a bit more difficult because few have the gas assessment to work on your type of boiler ( cooker range ).

It might be something external like motor valves but you have not been able to explain what you have clearly. Any heating engineer can work on those!

It always helps to better understand your system and how to engage the electric immersion heater so get the engineer to show you how to use it.

If it fires up for central heating, then problem is with external controls. Cylinder thermostat or motorised valve. Do you know if you have a three port valve or 2 x 2 port valves. If the latter, then manual operation of the valve to the cylinder will provide you with hot water if there is also a heating demand. Yhis may keep you going until you can get an engineer.
