Hi

I wondered if anyone could advise,i'm assuming i'd have to call an engineer for this problem.

I have had trouble on and off for a while with this boiler, i've had trouble getting hot water as the boiler doesn't always seem to "fire up" and kick in and then the boiler flashes reset with F5

In the past when this has happened after a few attempts of running the hot water tap i've got the hot water to come on but now it won't do anything, there's no hot water and the red reset button no longer flashes.

Last night it was flashing F5 but now it's not doing anything when i run the hot tap.

Any advice?

Thank you

How old is the boiler?

F5 I would normally associate with a blocked plate heat exchanger but couldn't say for sure without testing myself

If you remove the front there is a black rubber looking hose running from the top to bottom left if you gently squeeze this pipe near the bottom and it sounds "crunchy" you gave a blockage which will require quite a bit of work to get it up and running again

Thanks for the reply, the boiler is just over 4 years old.

In the manual F5 says it means Burner blocked/Air pressure switch faulty.

It is possible I am confusing f5 and f2

Either way I think that neither of the repairs required would be suitable for a diyer ask your friends or neighbours for a good engineer or contact the installer

if the old wb1a then it sounds like the jammy slapper is stuck. ring viessmann and complain. this was a very commen problem. shame as the wb1b is an excellent boiler. but tarred with what viessmann call the dover boiler.

I just ran the bath tap and the F5 reset has kicked in again.

It's type WB1A

Thank you.

It will be the rubber edged flap in the air flow to the gas valve.

It gets stuck, particularly whem moist, as said earlier.

There are things you can do with a vacuum cleaner, but the only permanent solution needs an RGI.

It is a sticking air flap, and it is ABOVE the fan, at the outlet, not between the gas valve and fan. You must get a registered gas man to fix this - it is not a DIY job.

I wasn't intending on getting my OH to do it,i'm not that brave lol

I just wondered if it was something complicated etc that would be very costly.

I had a cold bath yesterday, was horrible hehe

Just to update,it was that slapper thing that was stuck, the Plumber charged 65 quid all in to fix it,thanks everyone.

You are lucky you live in such a cheap area.

I charge £84 although I do give the boiler a service at the same time.

The problem never returns after I have dealt with it.
