Hi,

First post on the forum so go easy. we've got a iflo Digistat SCR that has the red light on all the time. I've tried resetting the wireless unit and reconnecting but the red light remains permanently on. After reading a few threads and the troubleshooting instructions, i've deduced its bugger ed.

So i think i need to replace it. i want to do it as cheaply as possible, can anyone recommend a new wireless unit and receiver, the cheaper the better! Is it a case of just swapping them over - ie will the wires in the new unit be the same as the old unit and is it something a diyer can do. I've done diy plumbing and electrics in past, so am pretty handy like that - just want to avoid any surprises!

Wasn't sure if you'd class this as plumbing or electrical so apologies if in the wrong forum - im sure you'll let me know!

Thanks in advance

With wireless, it's not advisable to go too cheap.

Alternatively, would it be possible to run wires to a wired stat? This is always a cheaper option.

The boiler is located in the kitchen and getting wires to it would mean some unsightly wires around the skirting and/or the sides of worktops but not beyond the realms of possibility - an option for me to consider.

If i did go down the woreless route, I've seen the Danfoss RET B-RF+RX1 for £80 on ebay. Its a more than I wanted to pay but i think Danfoss are a reputable company. Does this seem reasonable?

I need to get this sorted asap as the missus is giving me grief! So thanks for the quick reply!

The Danfoss is a good choice. Danfoss are a long established company, producing components for the heating and refrigeration industry.

I have fitted lots of these, and would recommend them. That's a good price. Some of the cheaper brands of wireless can be a little tempramental and not last so long.

Each to their own, but I would go wireless rather than running unsightly surface mounted cables.

This supplier also does the Danfoss for a good price. I have used H C O many times.

I think i'll go with the Danfoss then. Thanks for you advice.

Do you know if it will be a straight swap? I dont know im going to get when i open them up but i preume there will a pos and neg and switch wires. Does that sound correct?

Thanks again

Yes, receiver should have permanent L and N supply which powers it. Then 2 switching wires from boiler or ch system wiring centre.

Should be self explainatory when you open up the old unit. If you get stuck, just ask again on here.

Hi I have fitted a load of these and had afew problems with some of them Generally speaking though they are a good bit of kit.

When I had trouble I called the Drayton tech line and spoke to Martin - very knowledgable.

He resolved my issue on two occasions and sent me a replacement on the 3rd occasion.

Give them a try before you spend any money - hope this is not too late!
