We currently have a Potterton boiler in the garage. It's probably 12 or 13 years old. It broke down 2 winters ago (Leaked all over the floor; snow melt water got into the vent pipe thing!) but has been working OK since.

Anyway, though it's working OK, we are getting the garage converted into a habitable room and it occurs to us that the Potterton, when on, is quite noisy.

If we get a new boiler, are they likely to be quieter than old styled ones? We had a boiler in the kitchen in the previous house and I don't recall the noise as being excessive.

What would you recommend? It's a 4 bedroom house with a 370 odd litre Megaflo.

Thanks

If your existing boiler is adequately heating your house then one of the same output will be OK, as modern boilers are more efficient. It would save a lot of extra typing if the model was disclosed in the original post. Potterton make dozens of boilers.
