In August we're replacing a large walk-on balcony roof for a rubber EPDM one.

Once it's done, the customer wants us to lay floor tiles down on adheshive straight onto the rubber using waterproof grout etc.

I've sent an email to our UK Firestone supplier (awaiting reply). Just wondered if anyone had any experiences of doing this. We may double up the rubber for safe measure but I was more worried about if the adhesive will grab/react with the membrane.

Cheers

Why dont you use the firestone walkway pads, can be loose laid or glued.
Firestone also do the feet designed to sit on the rubber and they take the 4 corners of paving slabs.
Were fitting a new install this week with the walkway pads.
You might find using anything other than Firestone glues etc might damage the rubber, or cause it to bubble up.

You'll have to see that the rep says, but normally you would use proper promenade tiles/slabs and the spacers

Also remember that floor tiles are not normally for exposed external use unless designed as such, and you have a duty of care in using the correct materials. Make sure you are covered with something in writing, regarding tile suitability.

You don't want the customer sliding off the balcony and blaming you

Only tile we use Matt is Quarry, but bedded in waterproof sand/cement and grouted with same. They do a studded one thats non slip. Would imagine you'd have to put a seperation layer down and could do the same.
