Just a quick question. I was thinking today about how some people come of the ring in certain circumstances to provide lighting say to a hall way or porch. (well it can be done anywhere) but just using that as an example.

my question is is that can you get dimmable switch fused connections units, instead of just a switch.

I've had a search and can't see them anywhere.

My guess would be that if you wanted to do this then you would have to use a grid plate system, with a fuse module and a dimmer module

No there is no such item available, nor will there ever be, there is loading issues that have to be considered.

delmel sure you couldn't run a heater off one but for lighting perposes i definately see the use

as has been mentioned your best bet would be to build one from grid modules

note: there is no standard for grid modules so you should stick to one manufactures range.

the frame screws to the backbox
the modules clip into the frame
the plate screws on to the frame

so it can be done!

I'm not thinking of it and would reccomend that you use dimmers run from a lighting circuit, but was just wondering if it wasn't possible.
