I am planning a small porch on the front of my house. This will involve building a small wall on which to put the frames. The new brickwork will join onto the existing wall and will go from the foundation and above the existing damp proof course. Am i correct in assuming that i need to put a damp proof course in the new brickwork, otherwise the existing one will be breached?

Sorry if thats i a bit vague! i wont be doing the work myself but want it right.

Many thanks

Thank you. Thats what i thought.

I was asking because I was told that it wasnt required. I have seen one he has done and the new bricks just seem to be cemented up to the existing bricks going right across the existing dpc
