Is it possible to use a fireplace where chimney has been capped. I am talking about an ex council flat on 8th floor. Thanks a lot

mira - of course you can use your fireplace, but only for a flower arrangement, a pile of pebbles or a small telly. You cannot light a fire in there whilst the chimney remains capped; I'm afraid your choice of 'fire' feature is limited to an electric jobby with coal effect.

You can get a type of gas fire that does not require a flue, or one that uses a fanned flue to an external wall
