Double Glazing Units (Glass panels)

The K glass double glazed panels supplied with my UPVC window frames had adhesive tape/foil along the edges. One company tells me that it is to protect handlers against the sharp edges of the recently cut glass and to remove it before installation, another tells me not to remove it.
Any advice on this one please.

There is no need to remove the tape whatsoever this tape protects the edge of the unit the other method is a cloth tape it also helps to protect the fitters hands but is not its sole purpose but do not waste your time trying to remove it. but do ensure when you fit the units you use packers to ensure the sashes work correctly and the glass unit will not sit in water.
