Sealing Stone Wall - What Do I Need To Use

Hi

I live in an old stone built terrace cottage, the person I bought the house from had stripped all the plaster off some of the walls upstairs. When I look at the walls they seem to have been painted with something to seal the walls, it has a very slight glossy finish. The 2 walls in the kitchen have also been stripped though they have not been sealed in the same way and I get lots of dust.

What type of product to I need to apply to the wall to seal it and stop the dust
