Hi,

We have aluminium double glazing which is in good order.

However now its getting cold we get condensation forming on the aluminium frame. The glass is clear so no problem there and no condensation forms on the glass. I think its just the cold getting conducted through the metal as its very cold to the touch.

Is there anything I can do to prevent this? Is it just ventilation that is needed?

Thanks
Alan

You will not prevent this.

It is one of the traits of older types of aluminum frame which do not have a thermal break within the frame section.

Best you can do is wipe it and don't let it pond on the internal cill

metal window frames are usually cold. It is possible to manufacture them with an insulating break but this is not usually found unless they are quite modern.

ventilation will reduce the moisture load in the house and reduce condensation.

You don't drape wet washing about the house, do you?
