Hi,

I have a converted cellar that has a wall where the plaster has bubbled up quite badly, would it be ok to board over it and skim??
I would very much like to find out why this started so that i can fix it.
Any suggestions would be great
Thanks

i'm sorry to say this, but don't expect a lot from a cellar.

any subterranean building is going to be vulnerable to damp, unless £££ are spent trying to combat the problem.

gaining much needed room from a cellar should be regarded as 'bonus' room only. great for storing stuff that needs to be kept cool and doesn't mind a bit of damp.

sorry to be so negative.

Thanks,

So i suppose any fix would be a short term one until the problem came back??

Surly there must be something i could do?

It was done to a livable standard upto a few months ago but i am suspecting the tanking was not done properly. The bubbling plaster is from floor level upto half way up the wall, its strange because its not an outside wall its a dividing wall between a bathroom and bedroom?? No other walls are affected. :?:
