Vandals have cut thru chain link fence from top to bottom. This is a perimeter fence surrounding a community meeting place. Is it possible to repair without fencing contractor as insufficient funds available.
Any suggestion welcome

doesn't matter they will cut it again else where

but to make it look nice you could pull it back together and use tie wraps, you will need a lot as where you dont you will see from a distance

sparks - or stitch it together with thick galvanized wire. Pull the flaps together, thread shortish lengths of wire through, twist ends together with a pair of pliers. The advantage of using thickish wire means they won't be able to undo your stitches unless they bring their own pliers. If they do have their own pliers then I'm afraid breezer is right ... they'll make a new hole. Have you considered razor wire?

When I put a chain link fence up in our garden I was about 1/2 metre short. I was able to buy a short piece from the merchant. Its easy to fit in a new piece. You just undo the top and bottom of the end spirals, put the new bit in and then wind the spirals back in and close the ends with a pair of pliers.

We are just planing to set up our fence but lucky us our neighbors father is specialist in setting up fences. So i hope he will figure out how to link the fence!

polite conversation maybe? give it a try you never know you might find you enjoy it!

sorry, i fail to see what help you have given to this post, no really i dont see any, which is why i was, and still am bemused, i would appreciate it if you could enlighten me.

kim0190, you then joined in from no-where and said

I fail to see what your neighbours father has to do with repaing a fence when you are posting, would it not be better if your neighbours father posted, since he is the one you claim knows about fences.

even Thermo thought otherwise, since he said

polite conversation maybe? !

give it a rest breezer, she is a new poster. my comments were aimed at you. not everyone on here posts helpful threads or comments do they!

i realise your post was aimed at me, but it is not you i am questioning, there for how can i as you put it "give it a rest" when all i am trying to do is to understand what use the post written by kim0190 is. hence my questions, of

....and your point is

also

i would appreciate it if you could enlighten me.

these two are directed to kim0190, and i await a reply.

If you dont know / dont understand ask, I am asking

i dont wish to get into an argument but you seem to get some sort of satisfaction from having a go at new posters. Shes new to the site and may have something useful to add at some stage, so why not just leave it alone rather than jumping down her throat and being so petty

i am not being petty, as i already asked, i am just trying to understand th point of the post.

it started out with an enquiry about a vandalised chain link fence, to which i gave my 2p worth as did stuart45 and Symptoms, then kim0190 posted with what i fail to understand has any relevance what so ever, then you joined in with your suggestion as to why kim0190 posted what she did, and it would seem that you are wrong with your reason, "polite conversation maybe?"

i am only trying to find the answer to my question which you can not know the answer to.

I suggest that kim0190 has made no significant contribution what so ever, all 6 posts so far are just random "buttings in"
