Hi

Had a lot of gaps in the seals of double glazed windows where the silicone sealant had failed over time so I've gone round and sealed up every gap i could find inside and outside.

I filled up the gap at the bottom of the window outside where there wasn't any sealant previously but my neighbour has just said that this gap might be to let water out or something similar and that it might be necessary.

I see on other DG windows in the street that they too have this gap.

Should i rip out the sealant i have put in this part?

Hi, did you mean you sealed under the window or did you seal the drainage holes which are along the bottom seal?

If you have sealed between the frame and the cill then you have sealed the concealed drainage channel, and it would be wise to remove the sealant or the water will back up to the inside of the frame causing untold problems.
