I am fitting a Chubb door limiter (posh version of door chain) for a retired friend.

It seems to me that if someone kicks the door, the force will be in line with the fixing screws in the frame, so they might pull out. I have seen Yale door staples kicked off like this.

Is there a better way to do it?

The frame is an ordinary softwood one, it is fixed to the hall wall.

Is it possible to fit long, small diameter bolts through the frame (and the door)?

I'd look at using coach bolts (mushroom head, can't be easily attacked from the outside) and making up a steel plate, drilled at the same centres as the fixing for the door limiter.
