hi

wonder can someone help...on closer inspection of our 8 year old house it looks as though there are no engineering bricks under ground level. Will this be a problem in years to come?? Should we claim on the 10 year gurantee??

regards

Doesn't have to be engineer bricks, any photo? Might be london common bricks

oh ok. i will try get a photo, but the type of brick doesn't differ from the facing bricks under gound level - is this right?

The facing bricks is mostly just a pattern on a london common bricks, a photo will tell us more

There are no requirements for engineering bricks.

In any case, this is nothing to do with the Buildmark warranty

so long as the brickwork below dpc is is of a quality no less than 40n 'FL' bricks laid in 3:1 mortar, then the masonry will be ok.

if this means that the bricks above dpc happen to be of the quality that adhere to the rules of those below, then why not use 'em if they look ok.
