Air brick / vent

Hi there,

I live in a 5 year old house and have two vents in my lounge where the external air bricks are located. I open these vents whenever I light my woodburner to get the required up-draught in the chimney and avoid smoke leaking back into the room during lighting. There is quite a cold draught so should these be left open or can I close them after the woodburner is lit?

Is there a better solution?

once the chimney flue gets warm then updraught should not be a problem.

I don't understand how a properly sealed woodburner leaks fumes back into the room. I light mine, shut the door and thats it. Smoke couldn't reenter the room if it wanted too.

Yes its sealed but when I tried lighting without the room vents open the smoke leaked from the woodburners air-wash vent on the top right (it's not a tight seal as its metal against metal).
