one room in my house is above the garage, and so there is no heating below. all that seperates the garage and the room as far as i can tell is plasterboard on the garage ceiling and the floor boards in the room. other than ripping up the carpets or tearing down the garage ceiling and adding insulation, is there anything i can do to make the room warmer and to seal the cold air out?

you may have to lose the garage ceiling (small sacrifice) but fixing say 125mm of celotex or kingspan insulation between the joists will help.

I had the same problem on my home....I took the middle of the garage ceiling down and pushed the insulation to the walls with some timber.....made a big difference....then for good measure put a radiator in the garage as well
