I am considering replacing the roof on my garage with polycarbonate sheet to let the light in. Does it also insulate well - the double skinned stuff that is..

I guess it may insulate better if I sealed the ends so the 'air spaces' are enclosed?

And the thickness, the thicker the better?

twin and triple walled polycarbonate sheeting predomenantly used on conservatories and sun rooms does have better thermal insulating qualities than single skin roofing systems.

Any product that has trapped stagnant air within its structure will offer some degree of insulation.

Thicker will be better in this instance, but may not be enough to stave off condensation in extremely cold weather.
