hi. i have bonfire parties a few times a year and the grass on my small lawn never recovers from all the footsteps. i do reseed it often and it grows back lovely and lush ( until it gets trashed again) . the ground is very good i think, loads of worms.
what's the most hard wearing grass /turf i can buy? i am thinking of something they might use on a professional sports pitch. i remember a developer in sydney showing me his "olympic" grass he'd got as leftovers. it was amazingly springy.

i would like a mini wildflower meadow but i suspect that will be even more fragile.

i think the species of grass will be irrelevant if the soil is predominantly wet or clay like.

to build a good lawn requires hard work as well as hardy grass.

ask any golf greenkeeper.

if you want something hardy, then you need to go for a standard or ammenity turf. hard wearing, but not as lush and elegant as a better lawn
