Hi experts.
I'm digging out for a patio in my garden, I have dug down around 6 inches from the dpc and have built in a run off away from the house.
My problem is that now that the top and sub soil have been dug back I have noticed that there is a big collection of water on the surface and the ground is really wet.

The patio will be surrounded by a 6 foot wall and I can see the corner I have the run off leading to, about 5 meters from the house, getting flooded.

The soil is on a newly built house so is pretty compact, it is also a bit full of clay.

My plan was to dig a soak away in the "run off" corner, edge the patio with chipping and hope for the best. The problem is that in this corner there are the footing for the wall. Would the soak away affect this?

Hopefully you haven't nodded off reading this message but some help would be great!

Matt
