Gaz you just buy a square downpipe connector and the round downpipe just fits into the top of it. (With a bit of a squeeze)

I see you are from Sutton. Do you know The Plastics Depot? They are opposite the entrance to the tip on Norris Way, they do loads of gutter bits and are cheaper than screwfix.
