PIR-No Gas bond present
Hi, after carrying out a Periodic test I found there to be no main bond to the gas, only one 10mm leaving the DB and going to the incoming water.
So, I was just wondering what number this would correspond to in the observations & recommendations i.e.
1. requires urgent attention
2.requires improvement
3.requires further investigation
4.does not comply with 7671:2008
There is a gas cooker and combi, not that i'd imagine makes any difference

It always used to be code one, but the NICEIC guidence now is that its a code 2 (and as soon as you have a code 2, thats automatically an unsatisfactory verdict on the condition of the installation)

It does not pose an immediate danger which is likely to injure someone or start a fire in the near future, so it can not be a code 1.
If you are doing a PIR and you see something which makes you draw a sharp intake of breath say to yourself "ooh jeez, thats baaad." and then call to your coleague "'ere mate, have you seen the state of this" then a code 1 might well be justified.

There is an excellent guide to PIRS issued by the Electrical Safety Council and can be downloaded free from here
It includes typical problems and the codes that can be assigned to them.
Missing main bonding is code 2
A code 1 would be something like absence of an effective means of earthing for the installation.
Vive la difference!
