Strange smell in the mornings

Not really a DIY disaster but funny none the less.

We've had the builders in since Monday. Foundations have been dug now for the new footings. The outside toilet has been removed and the sewer pipes exposed.

I was out the back having a smoke before heading off to work. I heard the flush of next doors outside toilet followed swiftly by a swoosh.

To my surprise my neighbour had left me with a good will gift into our footings. The builders in thier haste to get the skip filled had forgotten to seal off the soil pipe when they removed the toilet and pipe work.

Told the builders this morning that they need to "shovel sh$t" before building control come to inspect the foundations later today
