Hope you can help here ladies and gents .

Thanks to insufficient intelligence I have screwed up my floor in my renovation.

In essence I need to notch my joist ( 200 x 50 @ 400 centres ) over a length of 150 mm to a depth of 65 mm to accommodate my wet-room drain.

Should say that the SE has calc'd to include 60 mm of UFH screed.

Span is 320 cm and notch is central.

Thank YouUUUUUU

That's 0.325 joist depth - TRADA guidance is that notches should not be deeper than 0.125 depth of joist. Additionally, notches should not be cut closer to the support than 0.07 of the span, nor further away than 0.25 times the span so your positioning of the notch(es) along the span does not comply.

That's not to say a design using your required sizes could not be detailed by an SE - the TRADA guidelines are for use in the absence of specialist calculations.

Place 50x100 either side of joist x 750 long below notch position and bolt through with 4M10s, should stiffen it up fine and dandy.
