Megaflow overflow pipe dripping

Hi
We have a megaflow system and the outside overflow pipe is continuously dripping with hot water, we have tried the flowing but it only slow it down for a short time until the main water is turned back on

Isolate cylinder
turn on the lowest hot water tap until water runs out

hold open the temperature and pressure release valve (on the side of the cylinder) until the gurgling stops in about 15 to 20 minutes. Then close the valve turn water to cylinder back on

wait until water is flowing from tap
shut off tap

All megaflos fail in this way.

You were taken in by the marketing of a flawed design being promoted as a benefit - the so called floating baffle. Its only purpose is to prevent water and air mixing and it doesn't work. Heatrae-Sadia know that, that's why the instructions are printed on the side of the cylinder.

If you can't stop the leak from the PRV you will need it to be replaced by an unvented G3 cardholder. Buy two, you'll need another in the next 5 yrs.

They also used to send out, free of charge, a potable water expansion vessel when the problem arose in the first place. They soon stopped that when the extent of the problem became apparent.

Buy your P/TRV and also buy and fit an expansion vessel suitable for potable water. You'll still need to replace your T/PRV again later but maybe you'll get a little more life out of it if you live on a soft water area.

Great idea eh? Test the safety devices each year knowing that in a lot of cases they are difficult to get to reseat properly afterwards and may need replacement.

could be a couple of things, air bubble requires recharging, make sure if you have mixer taps fitted that the hot and cold are not mixing inside the tap, if you have rechrged the mega flo that the t and pr valve is not faulty by not shutting off correctly, I personally think that the mega flo is a great bit of kit and is better than the santon prem plus with the external vessel which may also need charging periodically.

This will invalidate the agrement approval unless you get written confirmation form Heatrae that it's ok to do it.

That's really interesting as they sent one out very early on FOC.
Not saying your wrong but they did when the problem first arose.

The line was, oh, it's the water type in your area.

This was a long time ago, early nineties I'd guess, it's all so hazy to me now.
