Laminate flooring

Instructions state that I should not fit a WC pan on top of the waterproof laminate I am about to lay in a 2.5 x 1.7m bathroom. I do not foresee expansion problems. Is there any other reason not to do so? Also, is it acceptable to lay the laminate direct onto a level hardboard layer, which is on a suspended wood floor, or should I add another underlay?

Place your WC on the floor and mark where the holding screws will go. Then cut holes in the laminate as you would for radiator pipes being careful they do not show at the sides of the pan. Fix the pan down but don't over tighten. Run a bead of sealant around the base of the pan.

You would be better using an underlay which is for sound insulation as well as for slight variations in the sub floor.
