I have a Creda gas hob which is about 15yrs old - the push button ignition for the gas rings has stopped sparking, any ideas - is there a battery involved ?

Many thanks !

Look underneath for any signs of a battery cover or a mains lead to determine which type of ignition you have. Its not just been switched off at an isolator has it?

Hi...thanks for the reply...there's certainly a mains power lead running close to where the push ignitions switch is - isolator switch is on !

I can't see any signs of a battery.

It could be a stuck or broken ignition micro-switch or a faulty ignition generator.Either way it needs a Registered gas engineer to fix as it will require dismantling the hob.Approximate cost £60 to £100.

You can pick up a decent hob for around £100 these days so probably not worth repairing it.

Or just get a hand held battery igniter.
