why doesn't the Accenta G4 mini go off when power is removed

Hi
I used to have an old G2 compact and that went off when the mains supply was removed. I've now moved into a new house with G4 mini but it doesn't go off when the main supply is removed. Is this normal and why doesn't it go off? I thought it went off so that the alarm can't be switched off at the fuse box.

Flat / Dead Batts.

It's not supposed to go off. That's what the back-up battery is for.

Remove the battery leads and it should go off via the SAB.
