Which wireless? Visionic PowerMax+ vs Scantronic Ion 16 ...?

Hi there,

Looking to buy a DIY wireless alarm in the next few hours -- budget is £300/400. Which one do you guys recommend? A Scantronics Ion-16 or Visionic Powermax+ ?

I am leading toward the Visionic but that system seems to be now over 5 years old now -- is it not outdated? They don't come cheap.. what about batteries, etc..? Is it X10 compliant out of the box or do you need an extra module?

Think carefully about the dubious "benefits" of wireless compared to to hardwired.

Cheers for the answer.. I am definitely going for a wireless system but not sure which one out of the two. A bit concerned about the Visionic age -- it was launch in 2004...

I just try to put an order for a Powemax+ with a firm call Alarm+. as it turn out, the prices of their kits are overpriced (more expensive than buying the elements alone) and I was put off by the dumbness of the sale person answering the phone, a great effort to loose a sale. Sorry for the rant but sometime you wonder what's wrong with some people... I am going to spend my money somewhere else.

Guys any recommendation between the two systems, and any recommendation of a sane shop?
