had an Capstan alarm fitted April 2008. mains alarm activates. connects to police if panic button pressed only.

i was originally told that if the alarm went off either accidentally or otherwise
that the strobe light would indicate that the alarm had been activated but the alarm was silent. this was apparent a few weeks ago when we were about to leave for hols.

i am now told that it is no longer standard practice for the strobe light to remain on after an alarm activation.

how does one know whether the alarm has been activated if returning? I thought this was useful in case the burglar was still there.

is Capstan right

Generally the strobe would be allowed to run after an activation, and after bells if fitted have sounded.

This may have been disabled on your system.
Or the strobes broken and your man does not want to go up ladders :D

But in answer no standard practise is to allow strobe to run until a reset has been done.

YES, the strobe now has to switch off with the noise.

Can't give a date when this was implemented but if you can find that out, it's NOT retrospective.
